A fruity, delightful, affordable idea for a souvenir from Japan

Nippon Yell Gummy (ニッポンエールグミ)

You might be surprised by the wide variety of gummy candy products available in Japanese convenience stores. Gummies are popular in Japan, and their fans include not only kids but also adults.

I'm introducing one of my favorite fruit gummies: Nippon Yell Gummy Candies. Their real fruit flavors are excellent, and I'm sure you will love them, too. The bag has a zipper, so you don’t have to finish the entire bag at once.

Nippon Yell Gummies (Akatsuki Peach, Crown Melon, Benimadonna Orange)

One of the interesting things about Nippon Yell Gummies is various flavors. At least one flavor is available from each of Japan’s 47 prefectures, and each gummy is made with a signature fruit of the prefecture. Nippon Yell is a brand that promotes agricultural products produced in Japan.

You will be excited choosing which one to try. I checked the brand’s website and found that there are, for example, 7 different apple gummies, 8 different grape gummies, and 12 different strawberry gummies! The series also has other fascinating flavors: melon, cherry, pear, peach, blueberry, kiwi, orange, lemon, mango, and more.

Let’s take a quick look at what the package says.

Nippon Yell Gummies (Akatsuki Peach)

The photo would tell you the flavor: peach. The marked text says that puree of peaches called Akatsuki that were produced in Fukushima Prefecture is used. Akatsuki is a major type of peach produced in Fukushima (in the Tohoku region), and it is known for its sweetness.

How much do they cost?

A bag costs about 200 yen. Budget friendly! These would be good gifts for your friends or coworkers. I gave some to my friends from the US this year.

Where can you find them?

I usually buy them at a local farmer’s market, but you may be able to find them in Loft, Don Quijote (Donki), some convenience stores, or some grocery stores. However, based on my online research, I cannot guarantee you will always find them at those places. Also, you might find only some of the flavors (not the entire collection from all prefectures) at a single store.

I hope you have a chance to try fresh fruits produced in Japan during your stay, but if not, you can still try these gummies.
